MIIX - Making Imola an Innovation center of Excellence
Identity
MIIX is the acronym for Making Imola an Innovation center of Excellence, and is Imola's new public business innovation hub. It was created to provide a stable physical and project-based infrastructure, designed to host and connect startups, innovative companies, investors, and actors engaged in applied research. It is not a temporary project or a generic container, but a structured space built to support the development of high-innovation entrepreneurial initiatives.
MIIX was born out of the need to overcome the fragmentation of skills and experience present in the territory, creating a recognisable place where innovation is not merely talked about or discussed, but developed, tested, and brought to market. The goal is to foster proximity between different actors, making qualified collaboration and access to networks, expertise, and opportunities more straightforward.
In terms of its model, MIIX is a hub oriented towards applied innovation, where physical presence plays a central role: working in the same place means sharing time, processes, and vision. Admission is designed for selected participants aligned with the project's areas of development, striking a balance between private initiative and public direction.
MIIX is aimed at those seeking an operational context that is stable, connected to the territory, and capable of supporting project growth while fostering high-value relationships — including at an institutional level.

MIIX in Osservanza
MIIX is located in the Ex Artieri spaces, within the Osservanza complex — now the Knowledge and Innovation Park of Imola. A regenerated setting, surrounded by greenery and easily accessible, that is taking on an increasingly central role in the urban and functional transformation of the city.
Placing the hub here means embedding it within a broader ecosystem where advanced education, heritage, public services, and spaces dedicated to innovation coexist. MIIX engages with the park and with the other destinations of the Osservanza, helping to make this area a place that is lived and worked in on a daily basis — not merely a specialised hub.
The project spans approximately 1,500 square metres in total and includes 9 furnished offices capable of accommodating up to 50 workstations, a shared lounge area, and a common space equipped for training, events, and streaming activities. The environments are designed to encourage continuity, recognisability, and a sense of belonging.
Within the Osservanza, MIIX reinforces the complex's vocation as a contemporary productive space: a place where innovation is built over time, in connection with the territory and with a clear development outlook.
